Terms of use

1. What Bachat’Up is

Bachat’Up is a free iPhone app that lists public bachata events across Europe — festivals, congresses, marathons, weekenders, socials and classes. The whole catalogue is browsable without an account. If you sign in, you can say Interested or Going, keep your own list, and receive reminders before the nights you answered.

We do not sell tickets and we take no payments. There is nothing to buy in the app, no subscription and no ads. When an event has a ticket link, tapping it opens the organizer’s or ticket seller’s own website in your browser, and everything that happens there is between you and them.

2. Accepting these terms

Using Bachat’Up means you accept these terms. If you do not agree with them, do not use the app or this website.

Bachat’Up is for people aged 16 and over. At sign-up you confirm that you are 16 or older; if you are not, you may not create an account.

3. Event information is aggregated, and it can be wrong

This is the most important section on the page, so it is not buried.

Listings come from sources the organizers themselves publish — event pages, social posts, ticket pages — and from organizers who submit their own events. Most of that material is read and structured automatically. That means a listing can be incomplete, out of date, duplicated, cancelled, moved, or simply mistaken. A date can be off. A venue can have changed. A line-up can be old. An event can have been called off after we last looked.

Always confirm with the organizer before you travel, book a flight, book a room or pay for anything. Treat what you read in Bachat’Up as a pointer to the organizer, not as the organizer’s own word.

We are not the organizer. We do not run, host, staff, insure or supervise any event in the catalogue, we sell nothing, and we are not a party to any transaction between you and an organizer or a ticket seller. If an event is wrong in the app, tell us through the correction option on the event and it reaches a person.

4. Your account

You are responsible for your sign-in credentials and for what happens under your account. Do not share them. If you think someone else has access, change your password or tell us at hello@bachatup.com.

We can suspend or close an account that abuses the service — the behaviour in section 6 is what we mean by abuse.

You can delete your account yourself at any time, in Settings → Privacy → Delete account. The account closes immediately and everything is permanently erased after 30 days; signing in before those 30 days are up cancels the deletion. The privacy policy sets out exactly what is held and for how long.

5. What you contribute

You can send us event corrections, report a listing, submit events as an organizer, and write your own profile text.

Anything you contribute stays yours. By sending it, you give us permission to store it and to display it in the app and on this website as part of the catalogue, and you confirm that you have the right to send it — that it is your own, or that you are allowed to pass it on.

We can edit or remove anything that is inaccurate, unlawful, abusive, or not what it claims to be. Corrections and reports are reviewed by a person, so please describe what is wrong and, if you can, add a link that shows it.

6. Acceptable use

• No scraping or bulk extraction. The catalogue is for you to browse in the app, not to be harvested, copied wholesale, or re-published as a dataset.
• No attacks on the service. Do not attempt to break or bypass authentication, reach another dancer’s data, or probe the system for weaknesses.
• No false or spam submissions. Do not submit events that do not exist, corrections you know to be untrue, or repeated junk.
• Nothing unlawful, harassing or abusive in anything you write or upload.
• No reverse engineering of the app, and no attempt to derive the source of it.

7. Organizers

If you organize an event that is listed here and something about it is wrong, or you would rather it were not listed at all, write to hello@bachatup.com and say so. Corrections and removal requests from the organizer of an event are acted on.

If you are a verified organizer publishing your own events through the app, you warrant that you have the right to the material you submit — text, images, artist names and links — and that publishing it here does not break anyone else’s rights or any agreement you are under.

8. Availability

The service is provided as it is, with no warranty of any kind. We do not promise that the app is available without interruption, that it is free of errors, or that the catalogue is complete or accurate.

Features can change, and features can be withdrawn. We may also need to take the service down for maintenance, or because something has broken.

9. Liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, for an event that turns out differently from how it was listed — cancelled, moved, sold out, priced differently, not what you expected — or for anything an organizer or a ticket seller does or fails to do. A journey made or a ticket bought on the strength of a listing is your decision.

Nothing here limits any liability that cannot lawfully be limited, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.

If you use Bachat’Up as a consumer, nothing in these terms affects the rights you have under EU consumer law or the mandatory law of the country you live in. Where a clause here conflicts with those rights, those rights win.

10. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. The version and the date at the top of this page always say which text is current. If we change something material, the app tells you about it and asks you to read it. Carrying on with the app after that means you accept the new version; if you would rather not, you can stop using it and delete your account.

11. Governing law

These terms are governed by the law applying in the European Union, and by the mandatory consumer law of the country where you live. If you are a consumer, you can bring proceedings in the courts of your own country of residence, and you keep the protection of the rules that apply there.
